I generally don't do wedding cakes to avoid Bridezillas, but I
had to make an exception for a good friend who was
responsible for me meeting my wife.
She wanted something simple and elegant, decorated with
fresh flowers. There was a white chocolate raspberry layer,
another was creamsicle, and the third was chocolate hazelnut.

Cristo Redentor Wedding Cake
|
The groom's cake
represented the uniting of
Brazilian and American
heritages into one family.
This wedding cake was for a Brazilian friend who was marrying
her American fiancé in Rio, at the famous Cristo Redentor.
Although the official wedding was in Brazil, the happy couple
was also having a wedding celebration in the U.S., so they
wanted a cake that reflected the Brazilian wedding.
The groom was a Lakers fan and the wedding was scheduled during
the fifth game of the playoffs. (If she really loved him, couldn't she
have scheduled the wedding for another day???) So the grooms cake
was a black leather couch, a table with pizza boxes, and a big screen
TV with Lakers game scenes. As you can see, the bride was dragging
the groom out of his happy place.

This fun engagement cake really reflects the backgrounds of the affianced couple. He is from Baltimore,
she is from Philadelphia; she went to University of Maryland, he went to Emory (they both went to
Villanova); he is an O’s fan, she is a Phillies fan; she loves the cheesesteaks while he’s cracking the blue
crabs. I guess opposites do attract.
